Samsung and Nokia have the knack of designing, engineering and creating some of the classiest smartphones in the market. Two smartphones were recently released by the companies that have attracted hordes of customers. They are the Samsung Omnia W and the Nokia Lumia 710. In today’s article, we are comparing the two new arrivals and judging the best.
Ergonomics:
The Omnia W easily beats the Lumia 710 in this zone. The Omnia W measures 115.6 mm length wise, 58.8 mm breadth wise and 10.9 mm in thickness. The phone weighs only 115.3 g. The Lumia 710 on the other hand, measures 119 mm length wise, 62.4 mm breadth wise and 12.5 mm in thickness. The phone weighs around 125.5 g. The Omnia W sports a Super AMOLED touchscreen while the Lumia 710 has settled for a simpler TFT capacitive touchscreen.
Operating System:
Both phones run on a Windows platform. The version is 7.5 Mango. Both phones are powered by a 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor and the graphics is enabled by Adreno 205.
Memory:
Both phones house 8 GB internal storage capacity and 512 MB RAM. Neither of the phones have card slots. So, the user cannot expand the memory in either of the phones.
Camera:
Both phones sport uber cool 5 MP shooters in the rear with features such as geo tagging, auto focus, LED flash, etc. The phones have 720p videos at a frame rate of 30 fps. The Omnia W has a VGA as its front camera while the Lumia 710 does not own a secondary camera.
Connectivity:
Both phones support GSM 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900 in 2G. Both phones have EDGE and GPRS facilities. The Lumia 710 has Class 33 EDGE and GPRS. The HSDPA speed in both phones is 14.4 Mbps which is reasonably fast for downloading and loading of web pages. The phones have Wi-Fi 802.11 b/ g/ n. They also have Bluetooth facility.
Battery Life:
The Omnia W is powered by a 1500 mAh Li-Ion fuel while the Li-Ion battery in the Lumia 710 has a power rating of 1300 mAh. Both phones however have almost similar talk time and stand by time.
Price:
The Omnia W is available at around $355. On the other hand, the Lumia 710 is available at $310.
Verdict:
The Omnia W seems to be better equipped in many aspects. Considering the price difference, the Omnia W is the obvious choice.
